Celebration of Freedom  May 17-18 in Hobart

For Immediate Release:  May 13, 2019

The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, along with the Hobart community, will hold its 11th annual Celebration of Freedom May 17- 18. Celebration of Freedom will feature all types of events, including a skeet shoot, live music and much more. This event celebrates patriotism and our brave men and women in uniform will be honored as a part of every event.

On Friday, kick off the fun with Oklahoma’s largest silent auction happening in the Stanley Building and Museum tours at the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Start your Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. hosted by the American Legion, then join the fun at the Hobart Municipal Golf Course for the Golf Scramble at 9 a.m. From 1 to 2:30 p.m., be sure to take the kids to Courthouse Square for activities like Kiddie Car Races, Parachute Games and more. The Veterans Spotlight is at 3 p.m. in Courthouse Square, followed by our annual parade at 6 p.m.!

Additionally, there will be a children’s pageant hosted by Great Plains Youth & Family Services beginning at noon on Saturday, May 18. There will be three categories: newborn to 12 months, 1 to 2 years and 3 to 4-years-old. A king and queen will be crowned in each category and all winners will get a fun prize pack. Children may dress up or be casual, whichever they prefer, and will be judged based on appearance, personality and interaction with the crowd. Registration is due Friday, May 17 at noon, contact Great Plains Youth & Family Services at (580) 726-3383 with any questions.

The free children’s area, live music by The New and MC Roy Rodriguez and museum tours all day will guarantee fun for the whole family on Saturday. For a full calendar of events and details, visit CelebrationofFreedom.com.
