Understanding Community Understanding
Understanding Community Understanding is our newest leadership program, and is a community improvement initiative. Introduced by Joe Crookham and General Franks during the 2018 Four Star Leadership program, it was developed to create awareness of community issues and possible solutions in our future leaders.
During initial interviews with each student, they were asked to identify issues in their schools and communities that are having a negative impact on themselves, their school or their community. This program was created to encourage students to identify issues, get perspectives, ask questions and develop understanding of issues we face in our communities.
The program offers scholarship incentives to the Four Star Leadership students who create projects, apply for participation and provide reports for the UCU Challenge by the published deadlines. Winners are selected and scholarships will are awarded as follows:
1st place $5,000
2nd place $2,500
3rd place $1,500
