Celebration of Freedom Set for May 18-19 in Hobart

The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, along with the Hobart community, will hold its 10th annual Celebration of Freedom May 18-19 in downtown Hobart. The Celebration of Freedom will feature all types of events, including a silent auction, classic car display, live music and more. This event celebrates patriotism and our brave men and women in uniform will be honored as a part of every event.
On Friday, make sure to head to the Stanley Building at 300 S. Washington between noon and 5 p.m. for Oklahoma’s largest silent auction benefiting the General Tommy Franks Leadership Instiute and Museum. Also, visit the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum for a tour between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Saturday highlights include Museum tours, the Freedom Fest Golf Scramble starting at 9 a.m. at the Hobart Municipal Golf Course, the D.A.R.E Dunk-a-Cop Fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. the motorcycle Show and Shine from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the Children’s Pageant from noon to 12:45 p.m. Additional Saturday highlights include the Kidd Car & Lawn Mower Drag Races from 1 to 2 p.m., the Veterans Spotlight from 2 to 3 p.m and Cow Tongue Football starting at 3:30 p.m. Capping off the night will be Christian rock and country band, The New, playing from 6 to 8 p.m. in Courthouse Square at 316 S. Main Street.
The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum will offer five free cash raffles on Saturday, May 19. Raffle tickets may be picked up the week of the event starting Monday, May 14 at the Museum. There will be raffles throughout the day Saturday, May 18 for a chance to win $50, and the $100 raffle will be at the Stanley Building at 4:30 p.m.
