9th Annual Celebration of Freedom to be Held May 26-27 in Hobart

The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, in conjunction with the city of Hobart, will host the 9th annual Celebration of Freedom on May 26 and 27 in Hobart, Oklahoma. Adults and children of all ages are invited to attend this family-friendly event.
Celebration of Freedom is a two-day event dedicated to celebrating patriotism, honoring our armed forces and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy. The event will kick off on Friday, May 26 at 9 a.m. with the Skeet & Trap Shoot event at the Hobart Gun Range followed by Oklahoma’s largest silent auction from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The auction will feature a plethora of unique items and will close Saturday, May 27 at 5 p.m. Event attendees can also enjoy fun carnival rides and a variety of vendors from noon to 7 p.m.
Festivities will continue Saturday, May 27, starting at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast followed by the Freedom Fly-in at the Hobart Airport. Attendees can also enjoy the Patriot Parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Hobart. Guests who visit for the parade will witness more than 100 entrants of all kinds, including marching bands, floats, horses, cars, tractors and many veterans. The parade will also feature veteran Gary Norvelle as grand marshal, the Fort Sill color guard and marching band as well as Fort Sill’s ceremonial Field Artillery Half Section, the nation’s last horse-drawn artillery unit. Other festivities on Saturday include the Celebration of Freedom Lil’ Mr. & Miss Pageant, silent auction, the Shortgrass Play House's production of "Mister Co-Ed," free Museum tours and a meet and greet with Gen. Tommy Franks.
Celebration of Freedom attendees will enjoy live music as well as an array of craft and food vendors during the event. Live entertainment will be provided by the Centerfire Rock Band, Boss Man Jazz Ensemble, Jim Edwards and the 75 South Band and New Shoes.
Throughout the weekend the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum will honor veterans with special tributes. Everyone is invited to register local veterans and veterans that will be in attendance at CelebrationofFreedom.com so that they may be recognized on stage.
