Experience the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum At Home
Museum Continues Activity Online
For Immediate Release: April 16, 2020
(HOBART, Okla.) - Like many other businesses and attractions, the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum is temporarily closed due to COVID-19. However, the Museum is participating in the creative global initiative called #MuseumsFromHome.
See behind-the-scenes video tours, learn about leadership, military history and General Tommy Franks through educational trivia and crosswords and complete challenging word searches all virtually at TommyFranksMuseum.org.
“We definitely miss our visitors coming into the Museum, the interaction with great questions and providing personal tours,” said D’Lese Travis, executive director. “However, I’m proud of our Museum’s creativity and resourcefulness so that we may continue our mission in educating and engaging our audiences. We will be continuously adding more content and educational resources including special exhibit photo tours and additional video tours and activities for younger children including coloring sheets and ‘I spy’ games.”
Sweeping across the globe, the #MuseumsFromHome movement has provided a space for institutions to share resources the public may not have taken full advantage of while brick-and-mortar doors were open. By searching the hashtag on social media, you will find museums and organizations providing creative opportunities such as virtual lessons, tours and educational downloads.
“We look forward to releasing additional materials and implementations that we will continue to grow and develop until we are able to re-open the Museum doors and welcome visitors,” said Travis. “If there is a topic or item in our collection that interests you, please let us know and we will feature it in upcoming content.”
