Guests will be welcomed by General Franks and hear remarks from Vic Lattimore, Hobart Superintendent Cathy Hunt, Museum Executive Director D’Lese Travis and Museum Program Manager Cheyenne Budvarson. Light refreshments will be served.
The Lattimore Collection is available to the public beginning Thursday, Jan. 31 and displays more than 40 different taxidermy animals from all over the world, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. The exhibit includes information about each animal including where it is from, what it eats, how it lives and more. Additionally, there are murals throughout the exhibit depicting the animals’ home continents that were created as a class project by Hobart art teacher Laci Tompkins.
This educational field trip opportunity is made possible by the generous donations of Vic Lattimore and is available to the public, always free of charge. Those interested in scheduling field trips can do so by calling Cheyenne Budvarson at (580) 726-5900.
“We are always looking for ways to offer new and exciting educational experiences,” said D’Lese Travis, executive director of the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum. “This collection is the culmination of a lot of effort and community support, and we look forward to sharing it with our Oklahoma educators and future visitors.”
The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. Admission is free. The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum was created as a historical foundation dedicated to telling the story of the United States military and education.
