8th Annual Celebration of Freedom
Join us for the 8th annual Celebration of Freedom on June 17 and 18 in Hobart, Oklahoma! The 2016 Celebration of Freedom is hosted by the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum and the community of Hobart. This family-friendly event will be two full days of patriotic celebration and honors our nation’s great military.
A plethora of activities are planned for the celebration and there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Celebration of Freedom will commence on Friday, June 17 at 9 a.m. with carnival rides for all ages, veteran tributes throughout the day and Oklahoma’s largest silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind items including a buffalo hunt on Four Star Ranch.
The fun won’t stop there! On Saturday, June 18, the annual General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum Motorcycle Poker Run will set out from the Wind River Harley Dealer in Lawton, Oklahoma, at 8 a.m. for a scenic ride through the Wichita Mountains. Hundreds of bikers from all over come to show their patriotism as they make the journey to Hobart. Riders will meet for the last draw and Thunder Run line-up at the Hobart Municipal Airport at 2:30 p.m. General Tommy Franks will lead the Thunder Run through historic downtown Hobart at 2:45 p.m. Would you like to take part in this epic Poker Run? Meanwhile, at the Hobart Airport, a delicious, all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast will be served beginning at 8 a.m., just in time for the Wild Hog Fly-In! The Fly-In will feature live music, young eagle flights from the experimental aircraft society, veteran tributes and a meet and greet with pilots and their aircraft!
The 5k Fun Run and Bike Ride will start at 8:30 a.m. in downtown Hobart, with prizes being awarded for winners in each event. The Celebration of Freedom parade will also commence in downtown Hobart, at 10 a.m. Attendees will enjoying marching bands, floats, balloons, horses, cars, tractors and more. Other Saturday events you won’t want to miss include the Children’s Pageant, the Quilt Show, carnival rides, the Game Warden Display, the silent auction, a talent show, Museum tours and a General Tommy Franks book signing!
