LET US HELP FACILITATE A FIELD TRIP!
Get a head start on your spring field trip planning now with the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum! The Museum offers a variety of educational experiences, including our newest exhibition “9/11: Never Forget,” exploring the events and impacts of Sept. 11, 2001.
The world-class Museum is housed in a remodeled, 9,500-square-foot building in downtown Hobart, Oklahoma. The facility includes a gift shop, galleries with memorabilia and artifacts from General Frank's personal collections, a traveling exhibit area and meeting facilities. Visitors can view cultural items from around the world, unique military equipment, one-of-a-kind historical photographs, videos and much more. In addition, the Museum also houses one of only two Medal of Honor awards in the state of Oklahoma as well as one of the world's largest collections of Challenge Coins.
Not looking to travel? The Mobile Classroom and Road Show is a traveling museum designed to enhance and enrich the learning experience of students. The classroom travels directly to schools where an educator gives guided tours and educational discussions based on a curriculum packet that meets Oklahoma PASS skill requirements for 6th and 7th grade Social Studies. Exhibits include cultural, social and geographical items and information from 24 Middle East and African countries: cultural dress, one-of-a-kind handcrafted items, children's toys, ceremonial items and the first democratic ballot from Afghanistan. The Road Show encourages critical thinking and discussion by exposing students to educational opportunities beyond the classroom and traditional learning experiences.
